From a single hall in Dwarka to India's premier martial arts academy — this is the story of Dozeplay, and of every student who ever tied a white belt with us.
The Academy Story
Built On Sweat, Run On Belief
In 2008, national karate champion Arjun Mehta returned from training at the JKA Honbu Dojo in Tokyo with a conviction: India did not lack martial arts talent — it lacked martial arts systems. He rented a school hall in Dwarka, laid down borrowed mats, and welcomed eleven students to the first Dozeplay class.
Eighteen years later, that hall has become 15+ affiliated clubs across India, staffed by 93+ certified coaches — Asian Games medallists, national champions and master instructors — training 5,000+ students from age four to sixty-four.
But numbers were never the mission. Walk into any Dozeplay dojo and you will find the same things we started with: the bow at the door, the coach who knows every student's name, and the belief that martial arts is the finest education a person can receive.

A School Class That Changed Everything
Every champion's story begins with a single, defining step, and mine started back in 2013 when I was just a little girl. I was first introduced to karate through my school, taking those initial steps onto the mat not knowing it would shape my entire life. What began as a simple school reference quickly turned into my greatest passion, a path of deep discipline, and a journey filled with unforgettable triumphs.

Finding My Fire
From the School Hall to Real Coaching
Back in 2013, when I first started karate, I was just a young kid discovering what I was truly capable of. At first, I played and trained strictly within the school environment, but as my love for the sport grew, I decided to join my sir's personal coaching to seriously hone my skills, build my strength, and prepare myself for the real competitive world.

Debut, Silver, Gold — on national television
All those hours of sweat and practice soon paid off as I stepped into the competitive arena and began marking my victories. I made my competitive debut right here in Bhadra, where I fought with everything I had and proudly won a bronze medal, setting the foundation for what was to come. Pushing myself harder, I went to Talkatora for my second major fight, and though the competition was fierce, I held my ground and secured the silver medal. The high point of my competitive journey happened in Jaipur, where I gave it my absolute all and walked away with the gold medal, a moment made even more unforgettable when I appeared on television on DD National.

Beyond the tournaments and medals, my dedication to karate is defined by the milestones I've crossed in training, proudly holding a First Dan Black Belt certified by KAI as a testament to all the years of perseverance and commitment I poured into mastering my art.

Following in My Footsteps
Following right in my footsteps, my little brother Surya started his martial arts journey alongside me when he was just two years old, growing into an exceptionally talented student and an integral part of our five-member team. Back then, he was a very popular kid in our martial arts circle, known widely for his amazing structure and incredibly powerful kicks that left everyone impressed. His competitive spirit shone brightly right from the start, winning his very first silver medal at the Talkatora stadium before quickly dominating the ring and beginning his streak of gold medals. Today, he has evolved into a formidable and fierce martial artist, carrying that same intensity and an even more aggressive drive as a skilled black belt who continues to make us all incredibly proud.

The First Dojo
Sensei Arjun Mehta opens a single training hall in Dwarka with 11 students and a borrowed set of mats.
